Shelf Pottery vase
Shelf Pottery vase by Graham Alcock, Halifax, England.
The cylindrical forms with a slight lean and slant reflect their handmade studio nature. The matte glaze darkens from brown to beige over these cutouts and crevices contrasting with the limsetone coloured glaze underneath.
Shelf Pottery also known as Shelf Concept was a studio pottery in Halifax, England that produced a wide range of stoneware, decorative and kitchenware, founded by Graham Alcock who also designed the pieces. They also had links with Tremar, Trequoit and Louis Hudson in Cornwall whose pieces they stocked in their shop and produced versions of using the same moulds.
