Marianne Starck lamp

€ 1.500 EUR

Impressive and very rare lamp base decorated with a bold, birds motif featuring geometric shapes in vivid cobalt blue and olive green, set against a signature crackle glaze background. This finish, known as the Persia glaze, was a hallmark of the Michael Andersen workshop, noted for its opulent surface texture and intricate web of fine cracks that add both depth and character to the lamp.

Starck's work in ceramic lighting pieces often features stylized, playful, and almost totemic patterns, reflecting the Scandinavian fascination with organic forms and modernist design principles.

Marianne Starck (1931–2007) was a German-born ceramist who became the influential art director at Denmark’s Michael Andersen & Son in 1955, a position she held until the company’s sale in 1993. Educated at the School of Fine Arts in Hamburg, Starck became renowned for her innovative designs and technical mastery, especially her use of the challenging Persia glaze technique.
