Lapid Ceramics vase
Tapered cylindrical shape vase with a speckled off-white or beige background. The surface features an intricate abstract pattern of thin, reddish-brown lines forming organic and geometric shapes, giving it a modern and mid-century aesthetic.
Lapid Ceramics was founded in 1943 in Tel Aviv and later the company shifted toward art pottery, hiring European-trained designers like Elsbeth Cohen Silberschmidt, who introduced bold, hand-painted styles.
In 1957, Lapid was acquired by Koor Industries and became known for its distinctive tableware, blending Israeli cultural influences with Scandinavian and mid-century modern aesthetics. During the 1960s and 1970s, Lapid's ceramics featured earthy tones, geometric patterns, and abstract motifs. Today, Lapid pieces are highly collectible, appreciated for their unique craftsmanship and historical significance.
