Bitossi for Bergboms lamp

This Bitossi for Bergboms lamp features a cylindrical ceramic base with a lustrous, metallic copper glaze. Above the cylinder, stacked horizontal rings in deep black and reflective gold create a bold, rhythmic profile that emphasizes the verticality of the form.

Bitossi Ceramiche is an historic Italian ceramics manufacturer based in Montelupo Fiorentino, renowned for its richly glazed, textured stoneware and for the mid‑century designs developed under artistic director Aldo Londi.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Bitossi collaborated with the Swedish lighting company Bergboms, creating ceramic lamp bases that combined Bitossi’s sculptural forms and experimental glazes with Bergboms’ clean, modernist lamp hardware and shades. These pieces typically feature dense, layered glazes in tones such as gold, copper, green, and sand on strongly modeled bodies, resulting in lighting that reflects both Italian ceramic artistry and Scandinavian functional design.
