Alingsås Keramik mirror
Ceramic mirror by Alingsås Keramik. It features a striking ceramic frame hand-painted with a stylized lotus or petal motif in cool tones of lilac, black, and white. The petals radiate outward from the mirror glass, and the fine incising and careful color transitions showcase the craftsmanship typical of Swedish mid-century ceramics. The frame is signed "Gunnel," indicating the work of one of the studio's recognized decorators.
Alingsås Keramik was an influential Swedish pottery studio founded in 1947 and active until the 1980s. Based in Alingsås, a town known for its crafts heritage, the workshop became renowned for its decorative ceramics, innovative glaze work, and collaborations with notable artists such as Ulla Winblad and Gunnel.
