Alice Colonieu plate

Sculptural ceramic plate with transparent and textured glaze.

After graduating from the École supérieure des beaux-arts de Marseille she took courses at the professional ceramic school of Fontcarrade. Alice Colonieu created heavy ceramics in bright colors, made with columbine and always without mold.

Pierre Staudenmeyer said of his work that it was "vigorous, often baroque, breathing strength and energy, achieving a modernity made up of freedom and daring which, pushing classical references to the extreme, even distorting them, knew restore vitality to forms of the past”
