Carl Harry Stålhane vase
Glazed ceramic vase with different textures designed by Carl-Harry Stålhane for Designhuset.
Carl-Harry Stålhane (1920-1990) is well-known as the artistic leader for Rörstrand in the 1960s. His name is synonymous with high ceramic quality, magnificent creative design and brilliant craftsmanship.
Since he believed that Rorstrand no longer valued the artists, Carl-Harry Stlhane departed the firm in 1973. He founded Designhuset, a pottery studio located in a former waterworks outside of Lidkoping, with a few of his coworkers.
The new business made a number of distinctive art ceramics as well as more straightforward household goods quite quickly. Carl-Harry's spontaneous calligraphic decorations on porcelain and stoneware helped him to new heights as a ceramic artist. Carl-Harry was still as fiercely professional in the early Designhuset years as he had been at his debut nearly 40 years prior: "It is important to be curious and adventurous in one's work."
Stålhane is represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
