Chalet Artistic Glass vase
Deep red Chalet Artistic Glass vase.
Chalet Artistic Glass was a prominent Canadian glass company that operated from 1962 to 1974 in Cornwall, Ontario.
Initially founded by Italian artisans Angelo Tedesco, Luigi Tedesco, and Sergio Pagnin, the company started by crafting traditional Venetian-style glassware. Under the direction of Sid Heyes and Garry Daigle,Chalet adopted a new design approach, focusing on more fluid shapes known as "stretch glass." These designs gained popularity throughout the 1960s.
Chalet produced a wide variety of glassware items, including vases, candleholders, bowlsand goblets. Known for their vibrant jewel tones and organic, flowing forms, Chalet's pieces appealed to both Canadian and international markets.
The company's work became highly collectible, with items often identifiable by the "Chalet CANADA" mark, usually seen as a sandblasted logo on the bottom.
