Marianne Starck mirror
Ceramic “Persia” glaze mirror.
The “Persia” glaze at Michael Andersen & Son was developed in the 1930s by Daniel Andersen and used on pieces from that date.
This complex glaze turns out differently on each piece, depending on the glaze colourants used and style of decoration. Often the pieces using this glaze have beautiful but subtle oxidisation of the glaze, giving some of the colours a slightly metallic appearance.
German-born Marianne Starck (1938–2007) was one of Denmark’s leading ceramic designers in the 20th century. She is most known for her time with the ”Michael Andersen & Son” factory. Marianne's artistry is represented at numerous museums in the Nordic countries.
