Robert and Jean Cloutier vase

Flower bottle vase with different motif sides.

The twin brothers were born in 1930 and become apprentices for Lafourcade, Rivière, Georges Jouve and Pol Chambost. Jean and Robert Cloutier settled in 1955 in their own workshop rue de Reuilly in Paris. They developed a very personal style and collaborated with manufacturers such as Haviland, Galeries Lafayette or Air France. After a four-year break in the Yonne, they settle permanently in Marsillargues in Languedoc.

The Cloutier brothers created a dreamlike universe of their own in which the anthropomorphic, semi-useful, semi-decorative pieces and sculptures are intense in color, most often monochrome or bi-chromic.
