Fratelli Fanciullacci vase, Italy 1960's

€ 350 EUR

Vintage Fanciullacci ceramic vase with carved green glazed bands of stylised birds and foliage, framed by contrasting textured grey horizontal stripes.

Ceramiche Capraia was founded in Capraia Fiorentino (Florence) in 1862 by Raphael Fanciullacci, initially producing table and kitchen ware. By 1880 his son and four grandsons had joined, and the firm became Fratelli Fanciullacci (the Brothers Fanciullacci), later moving in 1911 to Montelupo Fiorentino to benefit from the new rail link and expanding production.

The company continued making tableware while developing a broad range of artistic ceramics in many styles, and after World War 2 it was acquired by Colorifico, Bitossi’s parent company, yet remained independently run and was regarded as one of Italy’s leading ceramic makers.
