Carl Harry Stålhane clock for Designhuset, Sweden 1970s

€ 550 EUR

Glazed ceramic clock with different textures designed by Carl‑Harry Stålhane for Designhuset. Carl‑Harry Stålhane (1920–1990) was artistic leader at Rörstrand in the 1960s and became synonymous with high ceramic quality, inventive design and refined craftsmanship.

In 1973 he left Rörstrand, feeling the artists were no longer valued, and founded the Designhuset pottery studio in a former waterworks outside Lidköping with several colleagues. Designhuset quickly produced distinctive art ceramics alongside simpler household wares, and Stålhane’s spontaneous calligraphic decorations on porcelain and stoneware took his ceramic expression to new heights. His work remains highly regarded today, and Stålhane is represented in the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
