Vintage Alfaraz bowl by Miguel Durán Lóriga, Spain, 1950s, hand-crafted mid-century ceramic piece with sculptural form and rich glaze.
Made by the Alfaraz Company (founded in 1952) this vintage bowl is representative of the work of ceramicist founder Miguel Durán Lóriga. Alfaraz Pottery was founded in the town of Alcala de Henares, just north of Madrid. Durán-Loriga was a noted mid-20th century Spanish ceramicist, designer, architect and professor. The factory had two production lines. One produced smallmid-century decorative items and the other produced architectural ceramic murals.
